Olympic Figure Skater Adam Rippon Opens Up about his Body Image Issues

2018 Olympic figure skater opened up recently on his body image struggles, and his unhealthy eating habits when trying to attain the ideal figure skater’s body. Athletes are 2 to 3 times for likely to develop an eating disorder than nonathletes, and approximately 33% of male athletes in weight class sports or aesthetic sports are affected by eating disorders.

The Victory Program Director, Riley Nickols, PhD, was quoted in the article discussing the prevalence of eating disorders in athletes. And it’s not just olympic athletes that struggle with body image issues, athletes of all ages and skill levels are at risk.
