How Eating Disorder Support Groups Facilitate and Promote Recovery

McCallum Place offers a number of groups to alumni, family and the general public to support those seeking recovery from an eating disorder.

Note: Due to confidentiality, it is not possible for students to observe these groups

Adult Alumni Group – KANSAS CITY

As a part of continuing care, past patients of McCallum Place may attend the weekly Aftercare Support Group. This group is offered to adolescents at no charge and is open to all past patients of McCallum Place. You must RSVP by calling Julie Williams at 913-906-9091, ext. 999206 by 3:00 the day of each group if you plan on attending.

Open Eating Disorders Support Group – ST. LOUIS

This group is open to anyone in the community struggling with disordered eating or in recovery from an eating disorder. It is designed to help those who feel they need extra support connect with others who understand.

Day: Tuesdays

Time: 5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.

Skills for Emotional Eating Group (SEE) – ST. LOUIS

We provide a safe, shame-free place to talk, learn practical and proven skills, and develop new ways of relating to food and your body.

Day: Thursdays

Time: 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Multifamily Weekly Support Group – ST. LOUIS

This group takes place in the McCallum Place Conference Room every Monday (excluding holidays) from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm. There is no need to RSVP; however if you’d like to participate via phone conference, please contact reception at 1-888-749-5796. This group is led by leadership staff and an array of different providers at McCallum Place with various areas of expertise.

Family Based-Treatment Coaching Group – ST. LOUIS

This group is for families who have dependents currently in treatment at McCallum Place. It is led by Dr. Laura Bumberry, a certified FBT therapist and focuses on empowering parents to support and guide their children’s recovery.

Day: Fridays

Time: 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
